Robert Henry Schlotthauer
March 21st, 1932 - December 26th, 2018
Robert Schlotthauer, 86, of Severance, CO passed away December 26, 2018 at his home. He was born March 21, 1932 to Henry and Lena (Glantz) Schlotthauer north of Severance. He attended Smith School, north of Severance through the 8th grade. Robert completed 16 weeks of Radio school, learning international Morris Code before he was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany where he was a radio operator for the Regimental Commander. On a furlough at Bensheim, Germany Robert visited the family of a POW who worked on the Schlotthauer farm. Robert married Izetta Zimmerman of Greeley at Ft. Riley Kansas on March 21, 1953, his birthday. After being honorably discharged from the Army Robert worked for Palmquist Electric in Windsor, CO, Meadow Gold Dairy in Greeley, CO, Great Wester Sugar Factory in Johnstown, CO, and Everett Lumber Company in Greeley doing carpentry in the Greeley area. Robert enjoyed refurbishing Radio Flyer Wagons after retirement. During his life time he restored a 1929 Model A Ford, a 1965 Pony Mustang, a 1961 Thunderbird, a 1919 Daniels and Fisher Delivery Wagon a 1926 Model T Coupe and a 1927 Model T Roadster. In 1965 Robert and Izetta motored to Arizona in the 1929 Model A. They also traveled to Yellowstone National Park, South Dakota, California, New Mexico and Oklahoma in the 1961 Thunderbird. Robert had been a member of the Poudre Valley Antique Automobile Club since 1962 and a lifetime member of Antique Automobile Club of America in Hershey, PA. Robert was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Windsor which later became Bethel Lutheran Church where he was a previous member. He looked forward to his morning coffee at Sonny’s Café in Severance. He loved to play his keyboard for anyone who came to the house. He lived life to the fullest. Robert is survived by his daughter, DeeAnn (David) Miller of Ft. Collins, CO; granddaughter, Misty (Luke) Lindholm of Severance; great grandchildren, Kayleen and Landon Lindholm all of Severance; brothers, Everitt of Severance and Melvin of Evans, CO; sister, Helen Gebhardt of Windsor; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; baby brother, Benjamin and brother, Eddie. A Life Celebration Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 7 at Adamson with a reception to follow. Interment 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at AdamsonCares.com
