Marc Alan McLean

Marc Alan McLean, 82, of Greeley passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his home. He was born September 15, 1936 in Eldorado, KS to Kermit Kooper "Hap” and Lillian Ruth (McCool) McLean. Marc graduated from Eldorado High School in 1954 where he participated in football, basketball, track and orchestra. He then attended the University of Kansas and Wichita State University. In 1958, he began his lifelong career in broadcasting and advertising on KAKE TV with his program Dance Party. Later, he fell in love with radio where he worked all phases; on-air disc jockey, newsman, promotions, remotes, advertising, sales and management. His passion took him and his family from Wichita, Kansas to Albuquerque, New Mexico to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and finally to Greeley. In 1960 he married Joann Sauer in Wichita, Kansas. They had three children and seven grandchildren; Todd (Angela) McLean and their sons, Connor and Chase; Nanci (James) Anderson and their daughters Jessica McPherson and Shannon Alm; Sean (Tami) McLean and their children Carly, Colton and Courtney. Marc spent six years in the Army National Guard. He was active in Little League with his children and many community service organizations throughout his life long career in broadcasting and advertising. He loved simple things like backyard cook outs and picnics in the mountains. His favorites were hamburgers or hot dogs and chocolate chip cookies. He always said his obituary should read: "He lived, he loved, he laughed, he left”. A Life Celebration Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Adamson Life Celebration Home with a reception to follow.
