Geraldine ""Gerry"" C. Lannon

Geraldine "Gerry” Lannon, 86, of Greeley, Colorado died January 7, 2010 at MeadowView Assisted Living Center in Greeley. She was born on January 4, 1924 in Keenesburg, Colorado to Dwight and Nellie (Plumleigh) Bower. Gerry grew up on a farm near Keenesburg and graduated from Prospect Valley High School. She went on to attend Colorado State University, then enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1944. She attained the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1946. On July 3, 1946 she married Joseph Lannon in San Francisco, CA. Gerry enjoyed being a homemaker and staying home with her children during their school years. In 1961, after Joseph retired from the U. S. Navy, they moved to Brighton, Colorado and she worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal and became an avid Denver Bronco fan. She enjoyed traveling and was often referred to as the "Road Runner.” She also enjoyed camping, and snowmobiling with her family. After Joseph’s passing, Gerry moved several times to be near her children then returned to Colorado to Estes Park in 2004. She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Jody Burnham of Tigard, OR; two sons, Timothy Lannon and wife Marilyn of Platteville, CO, and Shawn Lannon and wife Melissa of Manheim, PA; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and 21 nieces and nephews. Gerry was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Knierim and two brothers, Lawrence and William Bower. Memorial services will be held at Adamson Chapel in Greeley at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010.
