Marjorie Ann Hockaday
November 20th, 1946 - March 20th, 2019
Marjorie Ann Hockaday passed away on March 20, 2019 in Gulfport Memorial Hospice Center in Mississippi. She was born November 20, 1946 in Greeley, CO to Henry A. and Rv A (Morford) Hockaday. She was the youngest of five children and is survived by three sisters; Lelia Emry of Arvada, Alice (Larry) Moody of Greeley, Bernice (Darwin) Dimmick of Monument, nine nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter and a niece, Donna Gould. Marjorie attended elementary and middle school in LaSalle and high school in Gilcrest. She was in the first class that attended all four years in the high school and graduated from Valley High School in 1964. She attended Park School of Business in Denver and began employment at Denver Department of Human Resources as a clerk typist. Moving back to Greeley, she started employment at Weld County Human Services Department as an eligibility worker technician II; a position she held for several years before accepting the position of Income Maintenance Tech IV. She then accepted a Supervisor position she held until her retirement on December 1, 2001. She was involved in Masonic Youth groups; Bethel 10 Jobs Daughters and Assembly #6 International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She is a Past Worthy Advisor and Past Mother Advisor and was Past Grand Representative to Wisconsin. She was a 50-year member and Past Matron of Garden City Chapter #3, Order of Eastern Star. She was also a 50-year member of Mahi White Shrine of Jerusalem #18 and served many years as their Worthy High Priestess. Marjorie was a Past Royal Matron of Faith Court #18, Order of Amaranth. She enjoyed reading, all kinds of needlework from crewel, to cross stitch, to crocheting. She also enjoyed putting jig saw puzzles together and working crossword puzzles. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Adamson with a luncheon to follow. Memorials may be donated in her memory to "Shriners Children’s Hospital – Transportation Fund” or "National Foundation for Cancer Research”, 5515 Security Lane, Suite 1105, Rockville, MD 20852.
