Burdell El Roi Whyrick
October 18th, 1937 - June 27th, 2019
Burdell El Roi Whyrick, 81, of Greeley, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019. He was born October 18, 1937 in Hastings, NE to Peter and Florence (Kohl) Whyrick where he grew up and attended school. He served in the U.S. Navy and met his future bride, Edith Faye Haynie in Texas. They were married on October 25, 1958 in Wichita Falls, TX. While in Hastings he worked in sales and in 1987 moved to Greeley where he worked in car sales and as a contractor. He was the maintenance supervisor at Dayspring Christian Schools where he also announced games and coached track and worked with youth. He later owned and operated his own residential construction company as a contractor and roofer. Burdell enjoyed horse racing, bowling, taking road trips with Edith but most enjoyed time with his family. He served as a Boy Scout leader in earlier years, Pro Bowling Association and an active member of the Broadview Park Church. Thankful to have shared his life are his wife, Edith; children, Mike (Becky), Cindy (Randy) Rouse, Doug (Lynda), Kevin (Kristin) and Tiffany (Jason) Hettinger; grandchildren Nikki Adams, Staci Stunkel, Abbi Whyrick, Amy Nitzel, Scott Nitzel, Bethany Verbel, Isabelle, Anna, Grace and Johnny Whyrick, Katelyn Whitehead, Lauren and Meghan Whyrick, Avery, Ryan, and Kensington Hettinger, Hannah, Zac and Drew Rouse, great-grandchildren; Noah, Ryker, Coehn, Camden, Aidan, Ethan, Jackson, Berkeley, Baylor, Isiah, Kai, Mickey, Noa, Creigh and Cleo. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Lloyd, Chuck, Darryl, Norman "Bud” and Marvel Ellis. Visitation 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2 at the Adamson Life Celebration Home. Life Celebration Service 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Adamson with a reception to follow. Interment 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to "Greeley Transitional House” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences and view the entire story at AdamsonCares.com.
