Elsie Gay Sanderford
April 16th, 1962 - August 7th, 2019
Elsie Gay Sanderford, 57, of Greeley, passed away on August 7, 2019 in Greeley, Colorado. She was born to Dwain and Elsie (Gayer) Dodson on April 16, 1962 in San Angelo, Texas. Gay was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. She moved around the state of Texas throughout her schooling before moving to Denver, Colorado where she received her Master’s Degree from Denver Seminary in Marriage and Family Counseling. Gay married her best friend and high school sweetheart, Dr. Kelly Sanderford in 1985 in San Angelo, Texas. After starting their family, they moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1993 where they raised their children and Gay started her practice in Marriage and Family Counseling. Later on Gay transitioned away from her own practice and began work as a hospital chaplain. Through the years Gay served joyfully in numerous ways at her church. She was faithfully devoted to her Lord Jesus Christ and to her family whom she loved dearly and selflessly. Gay was known for her compassion, her gentleness, kindness, and sincerity. Gay had a remarkable ability to empathize with others and make a genuine connection with them, in order that she may gladly bear their burdens with them. For that reason Gay was a friend and confidant to countless people. She is survived by her Husband, Dr. Kelly Sanderford; children, Brittany (Travis) Smith, Jared (Mackenzie) Sanderford and Ben (Abby) Sanderford; grandchildren, Sophia and Kara; siblings, Chip (Susan) Dodson, David (Debbie) Dodson, Ann (Randy) Phillips and Max (Leah) Sanderford; her mother-in-law, Sybil Dodson; and a large extended family and friends. Gay was preceded in death by her parents.
