Christopher John Schmidt

Christopher John Schmidt, 67, of Evans, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his home. He was born December 10, 1952 in Mason City, Iowa to John Adam and Elaine Ione (Brozik) Schmidt. He grew up in Clarion, Iowa and later moved to Crete, NE and later Liberal, KS where he graduated from high school. Chris met Kandye Sue Ruzicka and they were married on August 1, 1975 in Liberal, KS. They moved from Wichita, KS where he worked as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for 17 years and then transitioned to Information Technology and worked at NCMC for nearly 40 years. He served as a Scout Master to the Boy Scouts, played guitar and enjoyed brewing beer. In his earlier years, he also hunted and did auto body work, more notably on a 1955 Crown Victoria with his brother-in-law. They were members of St. Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include his daughter, Katie Schmidt (companion Brian Ginoza) of Littleton; brother, Robert "Bob” (Joley) Schmidt of Durango and his schnauzer, Elsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son, Nicholas. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 26 at Adamson with Recitation of the Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church with reception to follow at Adamson.
