Judith Ann Barr

Judith Ann Barr, 75, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2020, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. She was born on February 19, 1944 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Howard and Virginia (Dulac) Welter. Judy graduated from Memorial High School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1962. She married Mehdi Shirazi in Menomonie, Wisconsin on May 1, 1964. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, James Mehdi and Shahniz Shari. Judy was a dedicated worker and was appreciated and well-liked by all those who had the pleasure of working alongside her. She thoroughly enjoyed her job at KMGH Channel 7 in Denver where she was a National Sales Coordinator. Through her kindness and investment in others, she built special relationships at work that became lifelong friendships. Judy had a contagious sense of humor, and she loved to laugh. She submitted scripts and jokes to television shows as well as several comedians. Some of her witty comments were even used on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. On June 5, 1998, Judy married Bill Barr, and they worked together in the field of siding and windows. She owned Lifetime Building Products, which was recognized as one of the Top 100 Woman-Owned Companies in Colorado. On December 11, 1998, Judy fulfilled her dream of graduating from college when she obtained her Associate of Arts degree from Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado, an accomplishment which was proudly celebrated by her family and friends. Judy loved her family and friends very much. She often opened her home for company parties, dinner guests, and foreign exchange students. Her children knew that their friends were always welcome in her home, and many of those friends still have joy-filled memories of time spent with Judy. Judy was generous with both her time and her resources. Some of her favorite activities were hosting Christmas parties and shopping for school supplies for the special children in her life. Judy loved each of her grandchildren so much, and she cherished the time they spent together. She enjoyed hearing about their activities and interests. She delighted in each of them, and she loved to hear the words "Grams” and "Grandma.” Judy had many other things that made her happy too: having lunch with friends, traveling, holding babies, feeding birds, doing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, and always having a dog close by. She was always willing to share her time and open her heart to others. Although Judy lived in Colorado for more than 50 years, her friends, family, and special memories in Wisconsin always had a special place in her heart. Judy is survived by her son, James Shirazi; daughter, Shahniz Shirazi; step-daughters, Tammy (Darin) Busse and Jenny (David) Maggert; sister, Janet (Jesse) Werlien; brother Larry (Lena) Welter; a loving extended family, and many special friends. She will always be loved and remembered by her grandchildren: Cheyenne, Gabriel, Alistaire, Greta, Peter, Melody, Natalie, and Heidi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Virginia Welter; and her husband, Bill Barr. A memorial service honoring Judy’s life will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 4:00 in the afternoon at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue in Greeley, Colorado.
