Wesley C. Scott
May 3rd, 1939 - March 30th, 2020
Wesley Scott, 80, of Gilcrest, CO, passed away Monday March 3, 2020 at North Colorado Medical Center due to COVID-19 complications. Wes was born May 3, 1939, in Aitkin, MN to Wesley H. and Margaret L. Scott. Wes married Joyce Richmond in Denver on October 9, 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1959 to February 1962 at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Wes worked mostly in agriculture including manager of two turkey farms as well as maintenance supervisor for Conagra. He also worked a couple of years at the U.S. Denver Mint. Wes joined the B.P.O. Elks in 1978 and was a member of the Brighton Lodge for 42 years. He served the Elks in many capacities; Brighton Elks Lodge #1586 Exalted Ruler 1987-1988, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler 1994-1995, Colorado Elks Association President 1999, and past member of the Grand Lodge Activities Committee for Scouting. Wes loved to travel and enjoyed fishing and hunting, and hobbies included making western bolo ties. He also loved spending time with family and was extremely proud of his grandchildren. Wes is survived by his son, Terry (Debbie) Richmond; daughter, Roni Jo (Bob) Colby; sisters, Karen Call, JoAnne Birrenbach, Betty Scott, Mary (Ed) Adkins, and Janie (Gary) Bowls; brother, Keith (Ima Jean) Scott; granddaughter, Stephanie Gettman; grandsons, Christopher (Lissa) Gettman, Randy Gettman, and Jeff Richmond. His great-granddaughters are Alena Diedtrich, Trinity and Aubrey Gettman, and great-grandsons, Brady and Peter Gettman. Wes is preceded in death by his wife Joyce; sons, Russell Richmond and Randell Scott; parents, Wesley and Margaret Scott; sister, Kathy Scott; and brother, Tony Scott.
