Neal Richard Fuller

Neal Richard Fuller was born in Burns. WY to Jesse T. and Marie W. (Harms) Fuller. He grew up and graduated high school in Burns, WY, prior to moving to Greeley in 1940 and working at various jobs in the area such as breaking horses on local ranches and cooking at Jesse’s Sandwich Shop. Mr. Fuller enlisted in the Marines on January 22, 1942. Mr. Fuller married Leila Wallace of Greeley on February 14, 1945 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Fuller served in the Marine Corps on Johnson Island, Pearl Harbor, Barstow, California, China, Guam, Korea, and finally back to Camp Pendleton where he retired in 1961 attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After his retirement Mr. Fuller returned to Greeley and worked Cooks Drugs and later for Kodak where he retired in 1982. Mr. Fuller was a Scout Master for troop 788 in San Diego, California and was a Lifetime Member of the VFW Pioneer Post 2121 here in Greeley. Mr. Fuller was a lover of nature and travel, which he shared with his family and friends. He was a strong and quiet man and as one daughter said "He was my John Wayne”. Mr. Fuller died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at his daughter’s home in Greeley. Survivors: His wife Leila Fuller of Greeley; son Richard Fuller and wife Sandra of Greeley; son Robert Fuller and wife Sally of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; daughter Mari Burns and husband Michael of Brookport, Illinois; daughter Linda Shanholtz and husband Michael of Shinnston, West Virginia; son David Fuller and wife Susan of Reno, Nevada and a Daughter Nora Fuller and husband Roger Haag of Greeley. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends including a special friend and neighbor Cherie Dal Ponte of Greeley. Preceded in death by: His parents and 3 brothers. Visitation: Monday 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Adamson West Chapel Service: Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday November 27, 2007 at Adamson West Chapel. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens Military Honors: Military Honors to be provided by the VFW Pioneer Post 2121 of Greeley. Notes: Memorial Contributions may be made to a Hospice of Northern Colorado or to Meals on Wheels c/o Adamson Funeral and Cremation Services 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634
