John Jacob Gasner
March 18th, 1922 - August 16th, 2007
John J. Gasner was born in Sterling, CO to Joseph and Opal (Schell) Gasner. John grew up in Sterling where he attended school through the 8th grade.. Mr. Gasner was the oldes son of 12 children. On September 23, 1947 he married Jo Ann Loftus in Denver. John served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked as an airplane mechanic. John loved his family. He will always be known as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He was an avid sportsman who loved all sports. He particulary loved fishing. He was a great Denver Broncos fan. But as much as he loved the Broncos, he’d rather go to the local high school to watch his children, grand children, nieces and nephew perform. John also loved to cook. He specialized in breakfast. He belonged to the VFW. Mr. Gasner died Thursday August 16, 2007 at the North Colorado Medical Center. Survivors: His wife of 60 years, Jo Ann (Loftus) Gasner of Greeley; daughter, Sherry Stone of Greeley and partner Joan Huebl; sons, Greg Gasner and wife Danelle of Tabernash, CO, Steve Gasner and wife Tina of Eaton; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Gasner of Silverthorne, Jana Holder of Brighton, Cale Gasner of Greeley, Shelby Gasner of Greeley, Tabitha Smith of Evans, Heather Dorsey of Greeley, and Tamara Sterling of Greeley; 10 great grandchildren, Jordan, Jalen, Josie, Grace, Bryce, Zachary, Sterling, Carter, Savanah, and Jonathan. He is also survived by, two brothers, Joe Gasner of Denver and Leo Gasner of Cheyenne; six sisters, Gertrude Leiker of Denver, Barb Kell of Thorton, Rose Worden of TX, Agnes Nelson of Denver, Veronica Baskell of Denver, and Shirley Maupin of Wheatridge; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents; grandson, Jeff; brothers, Sam and Pete; sister, Virginia Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 21, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greeley Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Monday August 20, 2007 at Adamson West Chapel. Rosary: 7:00 p.m. Monday August 20, 2007 at Adamson West Chapel. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens Note: Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church c/o Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
