Jack L. Ellig died peacefully on January 23, 2016 with his wife by his side. He was born May 30, 1940 to Mrytle Haugsdal and Lincoln L. Ellig in Williston, North Dakota. Jack, his wife and stepson have lived in Portland since 1982, right after he retired from the Navy of 23 years and 4 months. He was stationed at Subic Bay in the Phillippines for 2 years. He worked at Wackenhut for a few months before he was a mailcarrier for the United States Postal Service for 14 years. He joined the 24 Hour fitness unitl he became sick and was stricken with health problems. Jack is survived by his wife of 36 years, Yolanda Alemania; Step son Jose Avelio Ellig; Grand daugther Leilani Ellig; 2 sisters, a brother and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by very dear friends Tom & Yoko Carroll, John Brown, Richard Pietranze, and lots of friends from San Diego. Jack loved racing cars. He used to race at the border of Chula vista, Tijuana, Mexico every Saturday for a whole year in 1978 - 1979. Jack was a wonderful person and the nicest man you will ever meet. A memorial service will be on Friday February 12, 2016 at 1:30 at Willamette National Cememtery. Service Information
