Russell Lee McCormick

Russell Lee McCormick was born in Springfield, MO to Wilmer Eugene and Viva (VanWinkle) McCormick. Russell worked hard all his life to make a living and provide for his family. He had many interests, including hunting, camping, fishing and woodworking. He was a very talented handyman and could fix about anything. His biggest accomplishment was having been a volunteer fire fighter for 35 years in South West Missouri. He learned to scuba dive so that he could do water rescue and recovery work. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Mr. McCormick died Saturday September 8, 2007 at his home in Windsor. Survivors: Wife Elaine; daughter, Misty McCormick Glasgow and husband Richard of Brumley, MO; step-daughters, Margaret Scott and husband Randy of Springfield, MO, Janie Smoot and husband Cameron of Bartlesville, OK; step-son, Matthew Wedge and wife Andrea of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madeline and William Glasgow of Brumley, MO; step-grandchildren, Justin Scott of Springfield, MO, Anna and Grace Smoot of Bartlesville, OK; brother, Bobby G. McCormick and wife Corene of Loveland; nieces, Debbie Dietz and husband Jeff, Carolyn Morali and husband Glenn of Colorado, and nephew, Steven McCormick, who Russell was very close to, of Colorado. He is also survived by one niece and two nephews who live out of state; a close friend Clarence Taft and wife Mary; and many other friends and relatives. Preceded in death by: First wife, Sandra Davis McCormick; parents, Wilmer & Viva McCormick; grandparents; sister, Shirley Joana Chaney; aunt Elgie and an infant niece. Services: 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007 Klinger Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. Visitation: One hour prior to service.
