Daniel C. Hollis, 77, of Evans, CO passed away peacefully at his home on May 13, 2021. Daniel was born in Eads, CO to Leo and Frieda (Simmons) Hollis. He graduated from Eads High School in 1961 and attended Otero Junior College. Daniel was the head of Automated Controls for Palo Verde Irrigation District where he designed many of the control systems and retired after 45 years. As a boy, he spent many summers at the family cabin at West Creek, CO. Daniel enjoyed metal working and worked on his lathe as a "home” machinist. He was passionate about learning new things as was an avid reader, especially National Geographic. He enjoyed learning how things worked, including tanks, airplanes, steam engines and tractors. Daniel had a large collection of John Deere and Cat miniature equipment. He enjoyed watching movies and the Sound of Music was one of his favorites. Daniel was also very interested in photography and had a deep love for music especially old country and early rock and roll. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blythe, CA and Greeley, CO. Survived by his son Daniel "George” Hollis; siblings Steve (Judy) Hollis, Mark (Jan) Hollis, Bonnie (Kevin) Burns and Kevin Hollis, grandchildren Dannielle, Jessica and Ethan; special nieces Brittany and Amber. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Life Celebration will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, May 26th at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2515 W. 16th St. Greeley, CO 80634.
