Maria Irma Flores
September 26th, 1929 - June 16th, 2021
Maria Irma Flores, age 91, of Windsor passed away on June 16, 2021, at Pathways Hospice McKee Medical Center in Loveland surrounded by her loving family. As an only child, Irma was born on September 26, 1929, in Eagle Pass, Texas to Tomas and Julia Torres. On October 28, 1951, she married Francisco "Paco” Flores. While living in Texas, Irma worked for KRESS (5 years) and Newberry’s (2 years) Department Stores. She became involved in Community Action Program (2 yrs.) and federally funded Model Cities program (5 years). In 1971, she obtained her GED from Texas State Equivalency. Francisco and Irma moved their family to Windsor, Colorado in 1973. She worked for Colorado Migrant Council (5 years) and Boise Head Start (3 years). She served as secretary for Los Alegres Ancianos Mexicanos (LAAM) in Greeley for many years. In 2017, she was awarded "Mujer de Poder” for her positive influence on the success of children through nurturing and values. Irma was a woman of great faith. She attended Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church (OLOV) in Windsor in the early 70s when they would meet on top of the old Camelot Cleaners. She continued to be a committed and faithful parishioner to OLOV until her passing. She is survived by her eight children, Lesvia Brown (Jack†) of Windsor, Francisco Flores (Alicia) of Fort Collins, Irma Ybarra (Rudy) of Loveland, Hugo Flores (Patricia) of Windsor, Maria Gutierrez (Smiley) of Greeley, Adrian Flores (Anita) of Ault, Gerardo "Jerry” Flores of Windsor, and Julio Flores (Angelita) of Colorado Springs, 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Julia Torres, her husband of 30 yrs. Francisco "Paco” Flores, granddaughter Melisa Rene’ Flores, great-great grandson Maximus Anthony Lopez, son-in-law Jack Kermit Brown, and daughter-in-law Aida Flores. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 23 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, Colorado. A Rosary for Irma Flores will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Windsor, Colorado. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor, Colorado at 12:30 pm. Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pathways Hospice or American Parkinson Disease Association in memoriam of Irma Flores.
