Mike Martinez

Mike Martinez Jr., 72, of Ault, CO died July 23, 2010 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado. Mike was born July 28, 1937 in Ault to Mike and Eleanor (Salazar) Martinez. He grew up in Ault where he attended school. After high school Mike joined the Army and was stationed in Alaska. Upon returning from the army he worked at Bennett Cleaners and Woodward Governor before going to work as a machinist at Kodak where he was employed until he retired. On May 25, 1996 he married Kathy Kyne in Lander, WY. Mike liked fishing, western movies and classic cars. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and a season ticket holder. His family will remember his as being a loving husband and grandfather who loved to play practical jokes and had a "smart mouth”. Survivors are his wife, Kathy of Ault; step sons , Jay (Michelle) Kyne of Ridgeway, CO, Troy (Jean) Kyne of Greeley, Rob (Robbin) Boyd of Dodge City, KS; step daughter, Kerri (David Drake) Morgan of Ault; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Phyllis Vigil of Ault, Bernie (Emilio)Decker of San Antonio, TX, Marge (Lou) Sainz of Cheyenne, WY; brothers, Mel (Rose) Martinez of Greeley, Lee Martinez of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Mona Martinez of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ruben. Recitation of The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Adamson Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at St. Mary Mission, 267 East 4th Street, Ault. Interment will be at Ault Cemetery.
