Memorial

Sandra Elaine Andersen, 70, of Greeley, Colorado died October 9, 2010 at North Colorado Medical Center and met face to face with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Sandy was born June 1, 1940 in Greeley to Ralph and Lucille (James) Sall and raised on their family farm with her brother and sister. During her childhood on the farm, Sandra developed a strong work ethic which she carried throughout her life. It was also on this farm where she met her life time love, Kennie Andersen, who was her brother’s best friend. While they were dating, she began keeping the books on a small business that paid Kennie’s college expenses. Sandy graduated from Greeley High School in 1958. Sandy and Kennie were married March 12, 1960. Their small business grew from a few engine blocks into a 40 acre auto and scrap recycling center. In December 1961 they purchased a 40 acre lot next to the farm she grew up in. Later that evening, Sandy became a mother when she gave birth to their son, Dean. Two years later, they completed their family with the birth of their daughter, Nancy. As co-owner and bookkeeper of Andersen’s Sales and Salvage, Sandy worked side by side with Kennie for 54 years developing their business. As wife and mother, she took pride in every endeavor that family life offered. In 1977, Sandy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. The rest of her life was enhanced by this gift of grace. Sandy was an active member of Chapel of the Interlude in Drake, Co. She served on several committees and held several offices during her 31 years with The Chapel. The spring of 2008 began the winter of Sandy’s life on earth. She bravely fought the battle against ovarian cancer for two and a half years. During this final season, Sandy achieved 3 goals. Sandy and Kennie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March and she celebrated her 70th birthday in June. Kennie and Sandy also hosted their family to a fishing trip in Alaska in June. Survivors include her husband, Kennie Andersen of Greeley; son, Dean Andersen and wife Louisa of Greeley; daughter, Nancy Stone and husband Larry of Frisco, CO; grandchildren, Sarah Willcutts and husband Jeff of Loveland, CO, Denise Andersen and Jill Andersen both of Greeley. She is also survived by brother, Clarence Sall and wife Darlene of Greeley; sister, Brenda Sall of Eaton; sister-in-law, Norma Andersen of Ft. Collins, CO; three nieces and four nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents. Sandy’s family wishes to celebrate her homecoming by inviting friends and family for Visitation, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Adamson Chapel; Interment 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens; and Celebration of Life Service, 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Hope Center Foursquare Church.
