Theodore "Ted" Sumner Foster

Theodore "Ted” Foster, 83, of Greeley, CO died November 8, 2011 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado. He was born January 1, 1927 in Delta, CO to John Patrick and Jessica Lea (Wright) Foster. Ted served in the US Navy from 1944 –1946. He received his Associates Arts Degree from Mesa College in 1948, Bachelor of Arts Degree from Colorado State College in 1950, and Master of Arts Degree from Colorado State College in 1961. On June 11, 1947 he married Agatha Heinz in Delta, CO. Ted was Assistant Principal at Greeley West High School from 1966-1975. He was a 30 year member of Phi Delta Kappa and a fifteen year member of the International Association of Lions Club, serving as club president from 1979-1980. He was president of Weld County Retired School Employees Association from 1995-1997 and was awarded the Greeley Central DECA Appreciation Award for 1987-1988. Ted was an active member of the Weld Schools Credit Union for 40 years and the Credit Union board room was named in his honor. Ted enjoyed music and played in a jazz band for over 30 years. He liked reading, traveling, collecting paper weights and gadgets. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. Survivors include sons, John (Guyla) Foster of North Platte, NE, Jerry (Stephanie) Foster of Ruskin, FL; daughter, Annie (Phillip) Relph, of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Jessica Relph of Greeley, Jedidiah Relph of Phoenix, Ashley Roehrs of Peoria, IL, and Tracey Foster of North Platte. Ted is preceded in death by his wife, Agatha; and parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday November 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue, Greeley. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Ted Foster Memorial Fund” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue Greeley, CO 80634.
