Carl Winder, Jr.

Carl Winder Jr., 84, of Greeley, CO died November 11, 2010 at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born in Greeley on January 12, 1926 to Carl Winder Sr. and Mollie (Propp) Winder. Carl was raised on a farm near Severance, CO. He attended elementary school in Severance and graduated from Windsor High School in 1943. On May 3, 1949 he married Juanita (Gleason) in Cheyenne, WY. He farmed with his Dad and took over the farm when his Dad retired in 1958. Carl had farm sale after harvest in 1978 and moved to Greeley. In 1979, he started working at Trinidad Benham Elevator in Severance full time through 1990, and continued part time until 1996. He enjoyed classic tractors, tractor pulls, farm shows, reading westerns and watching western movies, while yard work was his avocation. Carl was a charter member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor. His family will remember him as a devoted Christian, a loving father, grandfather, and for his generosity. Survivors include son, Conrad Winder of Ft. Collins; daughters, Carla Wambolt and husband Ronald of Greeley, Karen Heedley and husband Nick of Arlington, TX, Donna Scritchfield and husband Keith of Greeley and Wanda Lanahan of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren, Amanda Newman and husband Nathan, Conrad Scritchfield all of Greeley and Derek Lanahan of Wescosville, PA; great granddaughter, Jade Scritchfield of Greeley and three sisters, Erma Weinmeister, Edna Knaub her husband Fred, and Lena Ochsner and husband Robert all of Windsor. His wife, Juanita Winder and a son-in-law, Mike Lanahan, preceded Carl in death. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Adamson Chapel in Greeley with funeral services Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. also at Adamson Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
