Mary "King" Alice Clay
March 7th, 1921 - July 31st, 2013
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church in care of the "Children's Fund." Mary Alice Clay March 7, 1921 July 31, 2013 Mom was born March 7, 1921, the 7th daughter of Irvin and Sarah King. She accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was 13 years old and attended Lansdown Christian Church for most of her childhood. In 1937, when she was 16 years old, she began attending Rosemont Baptist Church where she met and fell in love with a young preacher boy named Orvil Clay. Mom and Dad were married August 24th, 1938. This young bride had a lot to learn, about not just being a wife, but also a pastor's wife! But her great faith and desire to serve the Lord and do His will strengthened her and she became a tremendous helpmate in the many churches they served in. Mom and Dad were married for 69 1/2 years and Dad went home to be with the Lord on March 5th, 2007. Mom was truly called to be a pastor's wife. She taught Sunday School, Bible studies, and Vacation Bible School, was a Women's Missionary Union leader. Girl's Auxiliary leader, sang in the choir, and anything else that needed to be done. She was a tremendous prayer warrior and counselor. Mom and Dad had 3 children; Orvil, Jr., Tom, and Becky, but in years to come had three more "children" when Orvil married Joyce, Tom married Jackie, and Becky married Ray. Nine grandchildren turned into 15 through marraiges and out of those marriages, 15 great-grandchildren were born! Mom was so proud of and blessed by her immediate family and also countless others who she considered as part of her family. She was an example of unfailing, unconditional love. Mom will surely be missed for a time. But the legacy she has left to all of us will live on. God blessed us richly with an amazing Mom, Grammy, mentor, friend! "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you." 1 Peter 1:3-4 Service Information
