David Eugene Barthel
August 5th, 1982 - January 2nd, 2023
David Eugene Barthel, 40, of Greeley passed away January 2, 2023 at his home. He was born August 5, 1982 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to John David and Delores (Matthews) Barthel. His father served in the military and the family lived in Europe for a number of years. David graduated from Iowa City West High School. After 9/11, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served for 13 years before an honorable discharge. David loved to golf, ride motorcycles, play any sport and a good cigar. He was a member of VFW Post 2121. Survivors include his wife, Amber Jo and children; David Jr., Caitlin, Alex, and Preston Barthel and two bonus children; Shea McDaniel and Hunter Shelton, his parents John and Delores Barthel, two brothers; Bill (Bradleigh) Barthel and Chad (Brittany) Barthel, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. David’s Life Celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at Adamson. Inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow at the Greeley VFW Post 2121 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to “Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
