Jack Robert Wright
November 3rd, 1921 - May 24th, 2016
Jack Robert Wright November 3, 1921 to May 24, 2016 After a long life, Jack passed away in the hospital surrounded by his family. Jack was born in Grangeville, ID and his family moved to Eugene when he was 4. He graduated from Eugene HS and joined the Navy Seabees (Construction Battalion) after Pearl Harbor. Following the war, Jack returned to Eugene and opened a Cabinet Shop with a fellow Seabee. Jack married Eileen Wright in 1946 and they raised their family in the Eugene-Springfield area for many years. He enjoyed sports, especially coaching his 5th-6th Grade Youth Basketball team to back-to-back City Champions. Jack and the family moved to Milwaukie, OR when he joined Guy V. Sweet Co. in 1962 as an Installer of School Specialty Equipment. He later became self-employed and worked on many notable jobs in the Pacific NW, including Husky Stadium and the OSU Indoor Practice Facility. He worked until he was 82 years old because his jobs were “More of a Hobby, than Work.” He also joined the Seabee Reserves and became National Commander of the Seabee Veterans of America bringing the National Convention to Portland in 1974 & 1980. The Seabees truly were his and Eileen’s 2nd Family. They worked hard and played hard. Jack is survived by his son, Wayne & wife, Julie and daughter, Jan & husband, John. He also has 5 grandchildren, Josh, Sara, Tod, John & Randi, 7 great grandchildren, Taeler, Kayla, Troy, Sean, Isla, Rosalie & Quinn and great-great granddaughter, Nevaeh. Jack will always be Forever in Our Hearts. Remembrances in Jack's name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans; 503-255-0171; 8725 N.E.
