Elizabeth "Ann" Ann Steele
July 2nd, 1948 - October 6th, 2023
Ann Steele (Elizabeth Ann Thompson), 75, died Friday 10/6/23. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack Steele, daughters Jema Moody and husband Mike, and Amy Finney and husband Ryan. Ann was born in Tucumcari, NM on July 2nd, 1948. To Jane Thompson and Floyd Burt Thompson. She was the youngest of four siblings: Tommy Burt Thompson, Jack Edwin Thompson, and Robert Eugene Thompson. Ann attended grade school in East Las Vegas until the family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1957 where Ann graduated from Sandia High School in the late spring of 1966. It was at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, where she attended college that she met and married Jack Steele August 31st 1968. Ann worked for the University of Northern Colorado for 30 years. One accomplishment that she is most well-known for is developing programs for Continuing Education, she won awards for the class Native American Institute in 1999 and it was featured in the New York Times. As a reward for her many years of work, Ann and her husband retired to Mesquite Nevada where they enjoyed the warm sunshine and more golfing days year round. And in true Ann style, she could be seen driving around town in her red convertible with the top down, music on, and her hair blowing in the wind.
