George Lee Cordova
February 21st, 1952 - January 5th, 2024
George Lee Cordova, 71, of Johnstown, passed away at his home, surrounded by family on January 5, 2024. He was born February 21, 1952 in Johnstown to Juan Augustin and Santanita (Sisneros) Cordova where he lived his entire life. George graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1970 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army for two years before his Honorable Discharge. On October 16, 1971, he married Genevieve Guadalupe Hernandez in Brighton and she passed away on April 8, 2022. George worked for Kodak for 26 years and later as the Driver Manager for Good Day Pharmacy. He loved to coach and play softball and served as an umpire, played on a Kodak basketball team, was a drummer in a couple of bands, had a no filter sense of humor, loved to Karaoke and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the American Legion. Survivors include his three daughters; Andrea (Ivan) Sufian, Shawn (Ty) Buxman and Jackie (Marc) Hanger, eight grandchildren; Nick, Drake, Sam, Steven, Tristan, Scarlett, Danielle and Mariah, 12 great-grandchildren, siblings; Ernie (Virginia) Cordova, Art (Janie) Cordova, Mary Blackwell and Viola (Felix) Quintana as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two grandchildren; Isabella and Taylor, siblings; Gilbert, Louie, Porphie, Severo and Linda Baca. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2024 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Recitation of the Rosary 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2024 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnstown. Interment Johnstown Cemetery with a reception to follow at Dreams and Dragonflies, Johnstown. Memorial gifts may be made to “JM Veterans Post” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
