Kenneth Gordon Richards

Kenneth Gordon Richards, 86, of Loveland passed away at his home on October 19, 2018. Kenneth was the son of the late Roy Stephan Richards and Angela Ann Downer born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 18, 1932. Ken is survived by his wife Alma "Merle” Richards of 30 years, thirteen children; Randall (Judy Lee) Richards, Marla Bell, Bart (Pam) Richards, Kim (Kevin) Smolka, Kory (Lori) Richards, Debbie (Richard) Glasser, Pat Sharkey, Mike (Trish) O’Donnell, Dan (Tina) O’Donnell, Mark Gavin, Perry (Dan) Stewart, Kelly (Danny) Secrest, and Mike Whitrock, twenty-seven grandchildren; Oliver, Cyrus, Meghan, Justin, Jennifer, Crystal, Jessica, Mauri, Bailey, Tim, Stacey, Luke, Elise, Bethany, Mark, Lindsey, Kurt, Tucker, Brett, Natalie, Derek, Zane, Ryan, Brandi, Bethany, Brooklynn, Luke, and seventeen great-grandchildren; Emerson, Evan, Kai, Mylee, Connor, Sloan, Kellan, Mitchell, Kenadee, Liam, Lilly, Gavin, Logan, Kenadee, Zoey, Christina, and Matalie. He is also survived by his sisters June Ireland and Cindy Moore, brother Roy Richards, nieces, nephews and extended family. Ken was a pillar of strength, a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Ken graduated from Wauwatosa high school in Wisconsin, spent time in California after graduation then moved to Colorado in 1971 where he made his home. Notably, Ken was a Navy Veteran and fought in the Korean War on the tanker USS Caluga. Ken lived his life to the fullest – he worked in sales most of his life and was a member of the Church of Christ in Loveland. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking road trips (especially to Lake McConaughy) to spend time with his family, and reading biographies and history novels. Services for Ken will be held on October 29, 2018 starting at 10:30 am followed by a small lunch at Loveland Church of Christ (4100 S Taft Ave, Loveland, CO 80537), followed by a graveside service at Loveland Burial Park (Colorado Highway 287, 1702 Cleveland Ave, Loveland, CO 80538). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mountain States Children’s Home (14780 N 107th St, Longmont, CO 80504) or the Loveland Church of Christ.
