Marilyn Jean (Spath) Sheldon, 73, was born on April 5, 1944 in Scottsbluff, NE to Benjamin and Dorothy (Nolke) Spath.  She was the third of five children.  She and her siblings Joyce Ring, JoAnn (Jim) Harrison, Marvin Spath (of Nebraska) and Janice Tompkins (of Colorado) grew up in the Scotts Bluff area. Marilyn had fond memories of being with her mother, with her father as he worked in the fields or rode ditch, and with her siblings as they created their own fun such as sliding down the chicken house roof on cardboard.  Marilyn married Carl Sheldon on July 23, 1961 in Mitchell, Nebraska. Together Carl and Marilyn raised a family of 3 rambunctious boys, Troy, Lonnie and Scott Sheldon and in 1975 moved to Loveland with Carl taking a position at Kodak in Windsor. Carl and Marilyn were married 57 years. Marilyn loved her family. She was known as "Auntie Mar” by beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and as "Grandma Peachy” by grandchildren, Jonathan (wife Corey), Kelly Anna, Alayna, Gwendolyn and Brody Sheldon all of Loveland.  Many of the friends that knew and loved Marilyn also called her Grandma Peachy.  This nickname came from her owning a pet Old English Sheepdog named Peaches when her first grandson was very young and was trying to discern the difference between sets of grandparents.  Hence the grandma with Peaches became Grandma Peachy. The grandchildren loved their time at Grandma Peachy’s and remember sleep overs, water balloon fights, card games and games such as "pinecone basketball.” They also have fond recollections of Grandma’s "Flying Flapjacks” cooked and then tossed over her shoulder for them to catch on plates.  Marilyn enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts and throughout the years owned a macramé, pottery, jewelry and plant store, as well as, a soft sculpture company called, Stuffums .  She valued and enjoyed many friendships over the years making long-lasting friends in the neighbors who lived by her.  Those friends and neighbors were very important to her.  Marilyn worked at several jobs over the years, but mostly loved to just be home.  Weekly, fresh cookies and other baked goods lined the counter.  She was an awesome cook and baker.  Her favorite recipes to make were those handed down to her by her mother and her grandmother. Marilyn grew up on a farm and loved animals.  Throughout her life, she had always had at least one pet dog, and welcomed a variety of animals in the house never saying no to her children’s pet ideas of raccoons, lizards, snakes, piranhas, alligators, turtles, ducks, birds, even rats.  Marilyn also owned horses and had several pet cats over the years.   Marilyn leaves a legacy of caring and love, and will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her husband Carl; sons Lonnie (Andrea) and Scott (Shannon) Sheldon, her grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins, her siblings; and, her two dogs Bear and Baby.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son Troy.  We will cherish the memories of her and her belief in God and the hope of eternal life.  We "love you more” Grandma Peachy!  Cremation has been conducted. Memorial services will be held at God's Country Cowboy Church (5505 W. Eisenhower) in Loveland on March 24, 2018 at 10:30am.
