Matthew Edmund Krawczuk

It is with deep and overwhelming sadness that the family of Matthew Edmund Krawczuk shares his passing into eternal life on October 1, 2018. Matthew was born on May 13, 1980, in Dubuque, Iowa, and attended St. Anthony's Elementary School and Senior High School. He enjoyed soccer, tennis, and rollerblading, but his passion was downhill snow skiing from the time he learned to ski at age 3. He raced competitively for Sundown Mountain Junior Race Team (WIJARA) during his younger years and medaled multiple times in his age brackets. From the age of three Matthew's passion was downhill skiing which developed into Big Mountain Free-skiing. And so Matthew moved to Colorado in 2005. While there he competed in multiple Extreme freeride championships in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico. He and his wife were season passholders at Loveland Ski Area for many years. They enjoyed heli-skiing in Alaska and were there three times. Matthew loved the outdoors and loved mountain biking, paddle boarding, hiking, and playing with his drone. Matthew and Mary also have their fur-baby, Frosty, their golden retreiver, who went everywhere with them. Matthew worked for Colorado Framing & Construction for 11 years and became one of the few crane operators for the company (and trained others) and recently became a coowner with two others. Matthew is survived by the love of his life, Mary; his parents, Wally and Margie (Elgin) Krawczuk and his sister and her family, Melissa and Eric Myers and their children Ashley, Gavin (deceased), Kaden and his sister Emily Krawczuk and her children, Elijah and Luella. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Peter and Florrine Elgin and Edmund and Erna Krawczuk; his godmother, Connie Childers Brehm; his nephew, Gavin Myers; uncles Allen and Jerry Elgin. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:30pm at Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, CO. A service will also be held in Dubuque, Iowa at a time and place TBD.
