Gail Joy Sheldon

Gail Joy Sheldon, 63, of Fort Collins, Colorado died on December 8, 2020 at her care facility in Fort Collins with her daughter by her side. She was born October 22, 1957 in Illinois to Edgar and Luella Sheldon. Gail was raised in Illinois and moved to Loveland, CO with her parents after they had visited Estes Park and fell in love with the little town they drove through on the way there. Gail graduated from Addison Trail High School in Addison, IL. Gail attended Valparaiso University after high school. Gail gave birth to her daughter, Ashleigh, on November 13, 1990. Ashleigh was the apple of her eye and the only child she needed. Gail began working at the Loveland Police Department as a records clerk in 1984. She was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson's Disease at 37. Gail continued working until her disease had progressed too far in 2006. Gail was able to stay home with support from her daughter and home health services until about 2010 when she moved to Fort Collins Health Care Center. Gail loved to sew/craft and made many of her church's service banners that are still used today. Gail enjoyed reading, shopping, playing Bingo, and visiting with her favorite staff in the nursing home, who were more like friends to her. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Ashleigh, and her newest grand-puppy, Sage. Gail was a long-time member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Gail is survived by her daughter Ashleigh Sheldon; aunt Ada Dela Motte; and cousin Cathy Mansur. Gail is preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother Ron Sheldon. Visitation will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Loveland on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 9:00 am with funeral services immediately following at 10:00am. Interment will be at Kimball Cemetery in Kimball, NE following services.
