Emmett Charles Finnegan
June 22nd, 1939 - December 16th, 2020
Emmett Charles Finnegan, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep Dec. 16, 2020 with his wife by his side. He had complications of congestive heart failure and kidney failure. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on June 22, 1939 to Harold and Iona (Blow) Finnegan. After graduation in 1957, he worked at a German Shepherd kennel training dogs, then became a vet. tech. and worked at an animal hospital for 17 years. He played guitar with a small band in Plattsburgh, he owned a pleasure boat that he enjoyed on Lake Champlain. He married Loretta Cluky in 1976 and came to Colorado in 1978, they later divorced. He was hired at PVH in Fort Collins as housekeeping supervisor, a job he held for 15 years. He married Irma Miller Overholt on May 13, 1989 whom he met when Irma took square dance lessons. They attended many local dances, state and national festivals. His hobbies included woodworking, camping, hiking, and travel. After retirement from PVH, they started Sunset Lane Housekeeping and had that business for 10 years and was a professional Santa for 15 years. He was a member of St. john Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Michael Finnegan, Gary Finnegan and sister Theresa Sargent all of Plattsburgh, step-son and step-daughter in-law Ed Overholt (Kathy) of Fort Collins. He is survived by his wife; brother Patrick Finnegan of Plattsburgh, NY; sister Frances Oakley of Adamsville, AL; step-sons Jay Overholt (Deborah)of Loveland, CO, Gary Overholt (Tracy) of Reno, NV, Greg Overholt (Beth) of Fort Collins, CO, David Overholt (Dina) of Berthoud, CO; sisters-in law Dorothy Reyer, JoAnn Miller, Shirley Peck of Topeka, KS, Lorine Bloodsworth of St. Cloud, FL, MaryJean Alexander (Darrell) of Berryton, KS, nine step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
