David Edwin Dow

David "Dave” Dow peacefully left his earthly home surrounded by his family on January 26, 2021. He fought a valiant battle against mesothelioma, but Jesus won the victory and took him home to heaven. Dave is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deanna; children Dawn and Joe Karr and Daniel and Belinda Dow; grandchildren Lina, Isabelle, and Thomas Dow and Christopher Karr. Dave was born on August 13, 1945 to Richard and Mary Dow in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1963 and received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemical engineering from Iowa State University. Dave and Deanna married on September 4, 1966 and they lived in Ames, Iowa until Dave was transferred to Loveland, Colorado with Hach Company in 1978 where he worked as the facilities manager until his retirement. Throughout his life he worked behind the scenes helping family, friends, and strangers without a need for thanks, as an expression of his faith in God and his love for people. His kids knew that he would always answer a call for help with, "I’m on my way.” After retirement, Dave volunteered with Be the Gift, serving single moms by doing home repair. He attended and served at Impact Church Loveland. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Visiting Angels who took amazing care of Dave and Deanna in the last month of Dave’s life. Memorial gifts may be given to Be the Gift (bethegift.com) or Impact Church (impactchurchloveland.org). Visitation will be held at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland on Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. Masks will be required at both.
