Richard Carl Hoover

On March 10, 2021, Richard (Rick) Hoover of Loveland, Colorado, loving husband and father of two sons, passed away at the age of 74 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan (Reed) Hoover; son Chris Hoover, his wife Kim, and grandsons Aidric and Lachlan of San Diego, CA; and son Keith Hoover, his wife Allison, and grandson Zack of Loveland, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dorothy (Fair) Hoover of Canton, OH, his sister Barbara Davis of Akron, OH, and his beloved granddaughter Megan of Loveland, CO. Rick was born on December 6, 1946 in Canton, Ohio, and the world has not been the same since. He was a Vietnam Navy veteran, graduate of Kent State University, a teacher at Berthoud High School, an educational liaison at IBM, property manager, small business owner, Son of the American Revolution, and jack of all trades. He loved cycling, skiing, golfing, Volvos, competitive shooting, photography, building furniture and houses, traveling, sharp cheese, driving, and telling a good story. He visited all 50 states and most of Canada. He never had an opinion he didn’t express. Rick was a firm believer in relaxing and having fun, and his warm, loud laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Upon his granddaughter’s diagnosis, Rick became passionate about the research and funding of Alexander Disease.
