Martha Mable Lutes November 8, 1940 – June 26, 2015 Our dearly loved Martha Lutes (born Martha Mable McQuown and known to everyone as “Marti”) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 26, 2015. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, she graduated from Cleveland High School and raised a family in Southeast Portland. She relentlessly devoted herself to the happiness of others. Lively and talkative, she shared her bubbly personality with many friends and never failed to remember anyone’s name and story. Time and again, she helped those in need and inspired those who struggled. She herself endured and successfully overcame breast cancer two times. Marti Lutes is survived by her husband James Edward Lutes; her sons Douglas R. King and David I. King; her step-daughter Heidi Lutes-Pattison and step-son Paul Lutes; her brother-in-law William (Bill) C. Hughes; her former husband Richard W. King; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which supports education, research, health services, and social support programs in the area of breast cancer.
