Beth Jean Johnson
February 23rd, 1949 - July 13th, 2021
Beth Ferguson Johnson died on Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021 during heart surgery. She was a lifetime resident of Loveland, Colorado. Beth was born to Harold and Beulah (Sorenson) Ferguson on February 23, 1949. She started riding horses at the age of three, and her family spent many summer weekends attending nearby junior rodeos. She graduated from Loveland High School in 1967 and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado and her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Colorado State University. She was employed by the Thompson R2-J District as a special education teacher and as a Parent Liaison for the district. Beth married Rod Johnson on December 21, 1969. They were married for 52 wonderful years; many of them spent on the Johnson farm southeast of Loveland. Beth and Rod believed in giving back to their community. She served on the Thompson R2-J school board for eight years. Her real love was children with an agricultural interest, and Rod and she served as leaders of the Twin Mounds 4-H club for forty-one years. She served on the 4-H Foundation Board for over 20 years and co-chaired the 4-H carnival for several years. She helped organize the Larimer County Fair Parade and Rod and she served as Grand Marshals in 2017. Beth was, also, a member of the Loveland Elks Club and served on numerous committees. Beth’s loves included the Broncos football team, decorating her home for all holidays, and family gatherings. Beth is survived by her husband Rod, sons Bryce Johnson and Blair (Tamnmy) Johnson, her sisters Sandra (Max) Beavers and Cynthia Starck, her dog Queenie and grand dog Chloe. She is, also, survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents, Harold and Beulah Ferguson, preceded her in death. Funeral service Tuesday July 20, 2021, 10:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church with Burial to follow at Loveland Burial Park. Viewing Monday July 19, 2021 from 4:00-7:00pm at Viegut Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Larimer County 4-H Foundation Scholarship Fund or to the Loveland Elk’s Scholarship Fund.
