Lance Brooke Dunkirk
April 7th, 1944 - October 27th, 2021
Our dear old Dad, Mr. Mom, Pop Pop, brother and friend Lance Brooke Dunkirk passed away October 27, 2021. Lance was born April 7, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN to Lawrence Omar and Linnea Cecilia Dunkirk. Lance graduated from Washburn High School 1962 in Minneapolis. He got a job as an auto mechanic and worked for CO-OP for many years. He moved his family to beautiful Loveland, Colorado in the late '70s. He worked as a mechanic, played in a band and eventually opened his own auto repair shop called Dunkirk Automotive. He was very proud to own his own business. If he wasn’t there wrenching on cars he was in the garage at home working on cars or motorcycles for friends. Lance was a family man, he loved his family very much and provided the best he could as a single father. He gave his children the gift of knowing hard work and responsibility growing up on a farm, freedom to run wild with active imaginations out in "the boonies." He loved his grandchildren and supported them in their activities as much as he was able to. Lance was a very talented musician, he played the drums and sang. He performed in numerous bands since a young age and he was very handsome and charming. He had a smile and laugh that was contagious, he was very happy behind his drum set. He also loved riding his Harley- Davidson motorcycle. He took many trips to Sturgis and enjoyed riding in the mountains of Colorado. He would say the sound of his Harley (or any Harley) was "music to his ears”. Camping was also a family favorite where we all created so many memories we will cherish the rest of our lives. Lance was the baby of the family growing up, he is survived by his brother Denny Dunkirk, sister Tracy Rusinak, daughters Lana (Darren) Spradling, Leah Romarine, son Marshall Dunkirk, granddaughter Haley Romarine, grandsons Dylan Spradling and Mathew Romarine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Linnea, sister Pauline Dunkirk, brother Larrie Dunkirk and granddaughter Brooke Spradling. Lance had many health struggles in his later years. He is now sitting on Heaven's dock of the bay wasting time until he chooses to ride his '52 Panhead into the sunset. He believed when he arrived in Heaven he would know the face of God and have every question in life answered. He is now in the arms of the lord and free from pain, smiling and playing his drums. Rest easy dad. We love you and we will see you again for eternity. No funeral arrangements have been made at this time. Per Lance’s wishes he will be cremated and his ashes spread by his children at his favorite places in Colorado.
