Merton "Gordon" Ellis
December 20th, 1922 - April 11th, 2015
Gordon Ellis was born on December 20, 1922 to Merton and Laura Ellis. He was their only son and grew up alongside of three sisters; Marion, Gertrude, and Eleanor. He graduated from Canby High School and later married his lifetime sweetheart, Ida Mae Brown, in 1944. Gordon served as a cook on a Merchant Marine ship during WWII. He sailed one tour of service to the Philippines and one tour of service to Chile. His only child, Bill Ellis, was born in 1946. Gordon owned a farm in Dryland for 13 years and later purchased a farm near Molalla. He spent his working years in the fields raising a variety of crops. Gordon was an active member of his church, often played his saxophone, served at the Rescue Mission in Portland, and supported many missionaries. He enjoyed fishing, taking people out to eat, and spending time with his family. Gordon was 92 years old when he passed away in his farmhouse being loved and cared for by his family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Catharine Ellis; his grandchildren Rick and Kate Ellis, Mike and Rita Nelson, and Michael and Laura Ellis; as well as 7 great grandchildren. Donations can be sent to Canby Alliance Church or Tigard Four Square Church supporting their mission funds. Arrangements Entrusted to Molalla Funeral Chapel.
