Elaine Marie Coley

Elaine Marie Coley (née Serra) was born in Springfield Massachusetts on November 21st, 1936 to Alberto Gustavo Serra and Katerina Malvina Cassani, both from Italy. On April 12th, 2022, Elaine departed to join the love of her life, Robert Coley, who preceded her in death. Elaine said often that she had a good, long life, had no fear of death and was ready for the next chapter. When she was diagnosed with terminal illness, she asked prayers to “handle all of this God’s way, and to be a blessing," and that prayer continues to be answered as she finds ways to bless her family even after passing. Elaine had a quick and intelligent sense of humor and positive outlook even in the hardest of times. Her humor and wit will be sorely missed by us all. She was active in her church, LifeSprings Church of Loveland, her ladies book club, and the various widows’ groups that brought her joy and fellowship after the loss of Bob. One of her passions was birding and she was known as a local expert on the Big Thompson trail near her home where visitors often recognized her and asked her for help identifying various species. Elaine died peacefully in the home she loved, on the river, surrounded by all her children. She is survived in death by her sons Drew and Mitch and her daughter Cristen and her 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her blended family also blessed her with even more children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. These include Bob’s children, Steve Coley and Leslie Kancilia as well as Carol Douglas, who preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating to your favorite charity or to Audubon Society of the Rockies in Elaine’s name. A service celebrating Elaine’s life will be held at LifeSpring Church in Loveland, 743 S. Dotsero Dr, Loveland, CO 80537 at 3 p.m. on April 30th.
