Robert Andrew Thompson was born June 29, 1942, to Thomas C. and Edith (Willis) Thompson in Village of Mineola, New York. Bob joined the Army in 1959 where he got his GED. He was sent to Germany for his tour of duty. Bob lived in Chicago, Illinois and worked at American Airlines, transferred to Phoenix, Arizona and then to San Francisco, California, with American Airlines. In 1972 he worked for Hewlett Packard in Palo Alto, California, in the plating department, in 1976 he transferred with Hewlett Packard to Loveland, Colorado. In July 1977, the Toy Box on Eisenhower was purchased and later renamed Thompson Hobbies. He loved to do modeling and run trains; therefore, he built a huge train layout in the store. His sales pitch to his wife and sons was, you must demonstrate the product to the customers, of course the sons agreed. Bob had the hobby store for many years and made many friends. He helped many young modelers with models, Estes Rockets, Pinewood Derby, remote control cars, and trains. He closed the store and started selling at Mile High Flea Market where he loved to wheel and deals. Bob was great at fixing up items and making them look new, he took pride in every item he bought and sold. During the Christmas holidays from November to December 24th Bob enjoyed ringing the bell for Salvation Army, he received the Gold Krugerrand five times. He worked at Home Depot as a Greeter and enjoyed his seven years, as Bob said, what a great Company and colleagues. Bob had 80 wonderful years and enjoyed all the folks he met. Bob passed away May 26, 2023, at the age of 80, at his home in Windsor. He is survived by his wife Karen and three sons, Bob and wife Patty, Windsor, CO; Bill and wife Kelly, Naples, Fl; and Dave Thompson of Windsor, CO; Eight Grandchildren and Eight Great Grandchildren; his sister Florence Thompson of Monterey, California; and sister-in-law, Linda Thompson of St. Paul Minnesota.
