Winona Marie Lazaroff

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Winona Lazaroff, of Lakewood CO. She was 86 years old. February 25, 1938 - June 11, 2024 Winona Marie Lazaroff passed away peacefully June 11, 2024 A Colorado native, Her parents lived in Pine Colorado where she was born. They soon moved back to Holly, Colorado where her mother taught at a country school and her father farmed. (She had many stories of driving her mom to the school house by horse and buggy or by tractor during snow storms). The family then moved back to the North side of Denver where she started High school at North High, then transferred and graduated from Westminster High school. At just 19 years old she met Lewis S Lazaroff, and they married at North Presbyterian Church shortly after. Their first son Mark, was born in 1960 and two years after they moved to Orange County, CA She did home day care , volunteered as a crossing guard and worked at Orange County Teachers Credit Union. During this time they had their 2nd son (Shane) in 1965. By 1972 with ailing parents, they had the need to move back to Colorado to help with care. At that time they had their friend from High School, Larry Killian, build their current Home of 52 years, located in Lakewood, CO. Winona worked as an accountant until 1978 when she agreed to help manage and build their business providing transportation needs for people with disabilities, (Freewheel Vans Inc). After selling the business in 2003 and retiring they enjoyed trips to Scotland, Ireland, and Hawaii. Winona cherished family and friends. She loved her time with her 5 grandkids most of all. She also enjoyed time at her much earned cabin near Echo Lake, bowling leagues with high school friends, spending time with her car club family, antique collecting, playhouse shows, cooking fabulous meals for family gatherings and most important on the list until her very last days were trips to Magill’s Ice Cream. She is survived by her Husband Lewis Lazaroff, (married 67 yrs as of 6/23/24). Son Mark Lazaroff, Son Shane (Crystal) Lazaroff, Grandsons Justin and Cameron, Grandaughters Amanda, Haily, Marissa. Nieces Michelle (Davin) Shing, Janell (Howard) Perry. Nephews Jason (Mandy) Lazaroff, Jeff (Abbey) Lazaroff. And families. She was proceeded in death by her father Paul Crabill, Mother Nora Ethel Crabill, Brother Alan Crabill, Sister in Law Mary Stangle, Brother in law John Lazaroff, Niece Diana Lazaroff Helfinstine
