Russell Dennison Skaling

Russell Dennison (Dennis) Skaling, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. He was born on February 5, 1942 in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada to the late Russ and Adell Skaling. Dennis trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age of 7. At 18 years old he enlisted and served in the Army from 1960 to 1963. Dennis met the "apple of his eye "at a Bible Camp in 1964 and later married Helen Jane Wilbermuth in 1966. Together they served the Lord in many capacities and in many places across the US. The Lord brought them to Charlotte, NC in 1980 where they served at Carmel Hills, a Christian retirement community. They continued their service for the Lord in many other ways as the Lord led and opened doors for them. He was a member of Fairbluff Bible Chapel in Charlotte, NC where he loved and cared for many. Dennis along with Helen exhibited a unique ability to minister to the Lord's people in many ways demonstrating genuine love and care. They relocated to Pittsboro Christian Village, later to return to Carmel Hills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Skaling, and a nephew, Leonard Rink. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Helen Jane Skaling; two sisters, Shirley Rink (Ed) of Wayne, NJ and Sandra Weimer (Harry) of Manahawkin, NJ and five nieces and nephews. A celebration service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Fairbluff Bible Chapel, 4650 Fairbluff Place, Charlotte, NC. Burial will take place at a later date in Salisbury, NC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fairbluff Bible Chapel.
