Shirley Clein Goodman, 81, passed away April 17th 2016. She was born October 13th, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia. Shirley met her husband, Eddie Goodman, at his cousin"s wedding and the two were married shortly after when she was 18 years old. When Eddie finished his tour with the Marine Corps, they moved to Charlotte, NC where they would reside and be happily married for the next 60 years. Shirley and Eddie were long-term members of Temple Israel. Shirley worked at Knit Wits for 23 years, teaching hundreds how to knit. She knitted blankets and sweaters for family and friends. Lake Norman was her happy place, where she spent her summer weekends with family and friends, making memories and having fun floating, boating, and barbecuing. She was known as "Mimi" to many, took everyone in as her own family, and constantly put everyone else before herself; nobody was a stranger to Shirley. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and Mimi to all. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Edwin Goodman, parents Sydney and Rose Clein, and her brother Edwin Clein. She is survived by her three children Teri (and Mark Moffett), Brett (and Susan Goodman), and Philip Goodman, her 5 grandchildren Rebecca (and Michael Jones), Alexis Moffett, Seth, Jacob, and Hannah Goodman all of Charlotte, NC, her sister Honey Workman (and Howard), sister-in-law Boots Strauss (and Kenny) and family, all of Atlanta, Georgia. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday April 19th, at Temple Israel. A graveside service will be held afterwards at the Hebrew Cemetery (1801 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206) The family would like to express our upmost respect and gratitude to the caregivers at Home Instead and Hospice of Charlotte for the care they provided to Shirley and family.
