Betty Rachel Helms Hager

Betty Rachel Helms Hager, 9/5/1930-9/14/2021 passed away peacefully at Brighton Gardens after a battle with GBM cancer. Betty was a loving and generous wife, mother, sister, friend. As a devoted Christian, and those who knew her heard about her love of the Lord. She was a long time member of Eastway Baptist Church and very active in the "The 49er Club" organizing travel trips for the Senior group. She spent her career at the Nalle Clinic for 42 years taking care of the patients, and staff in various roles. As an avid researcher of genealogy she discovered numerous family connections. She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Patrick Gray Hager, Sr. And her parents, Roxie Viola Green Helms and Bishop Lee Helms. Siblings who predeceased her; Paul Woodrow Helms, Bishop Lee Helms, Jr, Margaret Helms Lipford Bonfield, Martha Alice "Mot" Helms Little, Nancy Helms Wilson, and Roy Rayford "Buck" Helms. She is survived by her sisters; Sarah Elizabeth Helms, Frances Pauline Helms Turner, and Mary Helms Greene, her children; Patrick (Rick) Gray Hager (Anne), Rachel Lee Hager McKenzie (Russell), Raeford Lynn Hager (Tamara), and Randy LaRoy Hager (Marsha Hocutt), her grandchildren; Marren Marie Hager of Brighton England, Lauren Lee Hager Flowers (Daniel), John Thomas Barrett Hocutt (Tiffany), Alexander Gray McKenzie, Grayson Lynn Hager, and Madison Rae Hager, and two great grandchildren, Aela and Delilah. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews of which three were most faithful in visitations during her illness, Harriett Lipford Hoffman, Dianne Turner and Kevin Helms. The family thanks Hospice and Brighton Gardens for gently caring for her.
