Barbara Banner Tanner

Barbara Banner Tanner was born on August 13, 1951 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Kitty and George Banner, Jr. and the sister of Gilbert C. Banner (Tema Banner) of Mountain Island Lake, North Carolina. She graduated from Myers Park High school and attended Gardner-Webb University. She was employed by Interstate/Johnson Lane and the Interstate Group. Through her young life, she loved Girl Scouts and her comrades from Camp Occoneechee. She was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She was forever blessed with lots of cousins from Ohio and Charlotte. She was thankful for having a loving relationship with her stepson, Mark Anthony Tanner of Statesville, North Carolina. She loved playing Bridge and other games with friends. She was always grateful for lifelong friends and fantastic neighbors. She was fortunate to spend a lot of time at her favorite spot, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Honoring Barbara's clear instructions, no funeral service will be held. Barbara herself wrote this obituary. In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to The Humane Society of Charlotte, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Charlotte, or Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council.
