Grace Barefoot Hooper

"Grace Barefoot Hooper, 62, and a 40+ year resident of Charlotte, NC, passed away on February 4, 2020. She was born on January 9, 1958, in Durban, South Africa, the daughter of Adlie and Lauretta Barefoot, who were serving as missionaries in South Africa from 1953 to 1960. Grace graduated from East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, NC. She married Kevin Hooper in Kernesville, NC. Their son, Christopher Hooper, was born December 10, 1987. Grace worked for Duke Power for most of her career years, followed by First Citizens Bank and BB&T. Grace was loyal, kind, compassionate, and had a great sense of humor. Tender-hearted, with a special love for animals, she rescued and spoiled litters of kitties over the years. Her relationship with God gave her strength, and she enjoyed worshipping at The Pointe Church in Belmont, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin Hooper; her father and mother, Adlie and Lauretta Barefoot. She is survived by her son, Christopher Hooper; her four sisters, Mary Powell, Marie Farmer, Patricia Espinoza, Rachel Feldman; her brother, John Barefoot; and many nieces and nephews. Grace loved her family and was very proud of all of them. She was particularly blessed and grateful for her son, Christopher, and her sister, Rachel, who live nearby and shared joy and comfort in happy and challenging times. They were there to lean on, get help, and to hold her in her final hours. ❤️ The family would like to thank all our extended family and friends who have expressed their support. Thru the tears of our loss, we are comforted knowing that Grace is free from pain in Heaven. Grace will be honored and celebrated at a private gathering."
