Charles Edward Estridge
January 17th, 1932 - April 7th, 2016
Edward, 84, passed away on April 7, 2016 at Clear Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 17, 1932 in Charlotte, NC to the late Charlie and Bleaker Ferguson Estridge. Edward graduated from Bain School in Mint Hill in 1950 and began work for NCDOT in 1950. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served until 1955 at Ft. Bragg and Holloman AFB as an MP. He rejoined NCDOT upon Honorable Discharge. He retired as the Parts Supervisor with the Division 10 Equipment Department at Newell in 1994 with 42 years of service. He married Jo Ann Glenn at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Union County on June 29, 1957. Edward is survived by his son, Edward R. Estridge (Karen); his daughter, Judy Montague (David) and a grandson, Chris Estridge. Along with his parents, Edward is predeceased by his wife, Jo Ann. He was a devoted Christian and devoted member of United Love Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 10, at 2:00 P.M. at United Love Baptist Church, Midland, NC with a service to celebrate his life to follow at the church at 3:00 P.M. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
