Archie Howard Plattenburger, Jr.

Howard passed peacefully into the arms of God on January 16, 2022. Howard, best known as Junior to his friends, was born in Union County to Mildred Crowley Plattenburger and Archie Howard Plattenburger. He lived in Charlotte most of his life. Junior served in the U.S. Army and stood honor guard for Halle Selassie on several occasions. Junior worked at Southern Flooring, Leroy Davis Wallcovering, and Carolinas Healthcare System at Carolinas Medical Center, which was known as Charlotte Memorial Hospital at the beginning of his career. The majority of his 30 years at Carolinas Medical Center he was the supervisor of the building maintenance department, a job in which he took great pride. Junior is survived by the love of his life, Amber; sisters, Janet Bush of Rock Hill, SC, Bonnie Bridger of Hayesville, NC, and Sandy Plattenburger of Stanley, NC.; brothers-in-law, Brick Smith and Bill Adams; sister-in-law, Heather Adams; nephews, Trey (Charlotte) and Troy Adams, and Logan Smith (Jessie); and grandnieces and nephews, Mariaha, Bryson, and Margo Adams, and Violet and Knox Smith, and numerous other family members. Junior was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Eddie. A memorial service to celebrate Juniors life will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Tribute and Tallent Funeral Home on Sharon Amity Road in Charlotte.
