Mary Wikinson Barbour

Mary Wilkinson Barbour - wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully in her beloved Charlotte home early Saturday morning. Mrs. Barbour was a true Charlottean, born March 14, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Robert W. Wilkinson and Bessie Taylor Wilkinson, and sister of the late Bobby Wilkinson. She is survived by her two sister-in-laws Joyce Wilkinson of Charlotte, and Boots Carter of Salisbury, NC. Mary Wilkinson became a Barbour on October 9, 1954, when she married her husband, Thomas Gray Barbour, Jr. She joins him in heaven, along with her late and beloved granddaughter, Jolyn Ferguson. She is survived by her two daughters and one son, Lynn Barbour Ferguson, Cile and Guy Woodliff of Charlotte, and Gray and Lisa Barbour III of Clemmons, NC; her seven grandchildren, Lauren Ferguson, Guy and Katie Woodliff, Elizabeth Willette and husband Ryan, Taylor Barbour and wife Krista, Abbie Mauney and husband Chase, and Alyssa Barbour. She also leaves behind her great grandson, and the most recent addition to the Barbour family, Thomas Gray Barbour. Mary Barbour was a 1949 graduate of Harding High School, and was a lifelong member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church. She was a beautiful soul, who unconditionally loved and cared for everyone in her family. She was short in stature, but big in personality, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter for all those who knew her. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Myers Park Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 14. Additionally, the family will meet with friends and loved ones from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 at J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, located at 1937 N Sharon Amity Rd, Charlotte, NC. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Novant Hospice and all in-home caregivers for their compassion, care and unwavering support they extended to Mrs. Barbour.
