Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations
Raymond Bert Lindberg
March 19th, 1925 - February 2nd, 2014
Mr. Lindberg, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, 88 years old, passed away on February 2, following complications due to heart failure. He was born on March 19, 1925, in McKeesport, PA, the son of the late Clarence and Edna Grace Lindberg. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Geraldine Lindberg, his son-in-law, Richard Harris and his brother Kenneth, as well as his parents. Ray moved his family to Charlotte from McKeesport in 1969 to take a job as Security Director for what was then known as NCNB (North Carolina National Bank) " now Bank of America. He developed the security system for all of the branches across the state and worked with the FBI and local police departments so that together they could keep the tellers and other employees safe in case of robberies. He retired from that position and enjoyed retirement years with his wife and grandchildren. When his wife developed Alzheimer"s, Ray spent 15 years as her sole caregiver. As a World War II Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, he was always the Soldier, seeing each challenge as a fight he could win. When "Jerry" passed away in 2009, he was broken hearted, but continued to occupy himself with his Bible, his connection to his church and his growing family. He will be sorely missed. Ray is survived by his children, Sandra Harris of Charlotte, and Raymond Lindberg, Jr. and his wife Joy of Greensboro. He also was blessed with wonderful grandchildren, Alexis Marie Williams and her husband Russell, Kristen Leigh Stark and her husband Rob, Richard Alexander Harris, Jr., and his wife Kammie, Russell William Lindberg and Brian Raymond Lindberg. He also has two great-grandchildren, Landon Alexander Stark and Chloe Marie Williams. He also is survived by his sister, Esther Mae Fitzpatrick. Ray was proud of his membership in many organizations including the North Carolina State Police Assoc., the NC Sheriffs Assoc., the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Police. Ray also was the recipient of the Bronze Star for Valor in combat for his participation in WW II. Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Road. A reception and visitation with family will take place at the church following the service. Graveside Interment will take place at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Christ Lutheran Church in memory of Ray Lindberg, as his church and its staff and members were his "second home and family". 2/6/2014 11:00 AM Celebration of Life Christ Lutheran Church 4519 Providence Rd.
