Charlotte- Wayne Robert Stewart, 87, of Charlotte, died Thursday, August 22, 2013. Born December 22, 1925 in Brunswick, MD, Mr. Stewart retired from Equitable Life Assurance Company after 30 years of service. Wayne was an avid Washington Redskins fan and sports aficionado. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Betty Cooper Stewart on November 12, 2012. A celebration of his life of love, caring, and service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, August 26, 2013 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte with The Reverend Tom Latimer, officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30-4:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia S. Castine (Earl), of Concord, NC; a son, Richard D. Stewart (Marlene), of Charlotte; and grandchildren, Sara, Emily, Maggie, Audrey, and Evie.
