Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations
Margaret DeMilly
January 25th, 1947 - August 31st, 2022
On August 31, 2022, Margaret "Maggie" DeMilly passed away peacefully at age 75. She is survived by her daughter Tara Scott, son Jonathan Scott (Rebecca), grandsons Drew Scott (Anika) and Ethan Scott, sister Sharon Anderson (Charlie), brothers Hugh Pell Jr. and David Pell, niece Bonni Simmons (Jerry), and nephews Richard Pell (Stephanie) and Stephen Pell (Gail). She was preceded in death by her husband Bill DeMilly, father Hugh D. Pell Sr. and mother Vera Pell. Born in Panama City, Florida, Maggie and her three siblings lived in Florida, England, Georgia, Alabama and Missouri during their youth as the family moved during their father's post Air Force career. She was a smart and caring youth who loved school, the Beatles and peanut-filled Cokes. Maggie took extra classes in high school, trained as a secretary and graduated Salutatorian of her Nursing class (while her two children were in elementary school). A single parent who worked full time, she also earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees with honors. Maggie found great joy as a Nurse Practitioner and worked at area clinics and West Florida Hospital (Pensacola), Duke Health System (Durham), and Hospice and Palliative Care (Charlotte). She found her special calling in the care of hospice patients ensuring they had the best care possible. Maggie's strength, determination and faith got her through the stress of her medical career ending abruptly due to health issues. She battled daily with constant pain, and heart and lung failure. She used her time to volunteer at the Matthews library for several years and to serve at Light of Christ UMC by sewing outfits for Haiti children, sponsoring education in Bayonnis and assisting in the congregational care ministry. Those close to her will remember her wicked sense of humor, exceeding speed limits in her electric wheelchair, addiction to Law and Order programs, fondness for ice cream and milkshakes, and bright love of God. She touched many with her kindness, honesty and spirit and will be dearly missed. A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers, nurses and doctors at Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte for their attentive and compassionate care. You're invited to help us celebrate and honor Maggie's life on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 1:00pm. (This is rescheduled from October 1 due to severe weather conditions.) The memorial service is open to all and will be held at Light of Christ United Methodist Church (9106 Bryant Farms Rd, Charlotte, NC). In honor of Maggie's love of rainbows and butterflies, please dress in bright colors and come with stories and laughter to share with her family and friends Memorial Saturday, October 29, 2022 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Light of Christ United Methodist Church 9106 Bryant Farms Rd.
