Donna Foard Turner

Donna Foard Turner passed away on Saturday June 13th, 2021 at Mercy Hospital with her loving daughter Lisa by her side. Donna was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to Seldon and Ruth Foard, August 8th, 1935. She attended Central High School graduating in 1953. Donna was very proud of her 30 year career with Knight Publishing Company at the Charlotte Observer. She ran the page "make-up" department for many years, receiving numerous company awards and was known there as "one tough cookie". Donna married Joseph Lee Turner in 1970 and spent 43 years together. She was active in Central Church of God where she and Joe worshipped for 30 years. Donna especially looked forward to her Sunday school class, ‘Disciples under Construction' and participated monthly in the Primetimers, a senior's dinner group. Donna was a devoted mother and grandmother to three daughters and three grandchildren. Many summer vacations were spent at a South Carolina Beach house hanging out with family and friends. She had a wry sense of humor, loved telling fun stories and had quite a few of them. She LOVED a great meal and made a mean fried chicken. Her daughter Barbara Mortimer Wilson and husband Joe Turner predecease her. She is survived by her daughters Melanie Buck of Los Angeles and Lisa Mortimer Tuttle of Charlotte, her three grandchildren, Tyler Hicks, Austin Hicks and Jessica Tuttle and one very well seasoned cast iron frying pan. A special thank you to the staff of White Oak Manor of Charlotte. Your dedication, compassion and kindness over the past 3 years has been a blessing to Donna and her family.
